Forward osmosis activities
On November 30th 2018, Asaha Kasei officially entered the FO market with a press release summarizing the company’s FO plans. Briefly, Asahi Kasei plans for a commercial launch of hollow fiber forward osmosis membranes in 2020. Target sectors include food, beverage, and pharmaceutical where liquids “are often concentrated to heighten the composition of aromas, flavors, or active ingredients, to reduce the costs of shipment and storage.” Forward osmosis membranes achieve high-level concentration of liquids without heating or pressurization.
