Forward osmosis activities
Trevi Systems has developed its forward osmosis systems around a range of proprietary thermally responsive organic draw solution(s). By utilizing waste heat to induce a phase change, water is separated from the draw solution by a coalescer. Hence, draw solution regeneration is achieved without the use of energy (electric) intensive high pressure pumps. As a result, Trevi’s forward osmosis process is capable of reducing the electric energy consumption of seawater desalination by more than 75%. The company currently offers 100m3/day pilot skids for small scale desalination plants and industrial optimization studies.
