Engineering students looking for information to help design a full-scale FO-based desalination plant using ammonium bicarbonate as draw solution

We recently received the following inquiry on FO membrane products and FO plant design from Caleb Shaw (cable.shaw@gmail.com

Good day,

I am a fourth year chemical engineering student at the Royal Military College of Canada, and am contacting you with the hope that you might be willing to provide information on FO membrane products, and the design of a FO plant.

This information would be for research purposes only on our fourth year thesis project.

If you are interested in more information about the project, we have chosen to design a Forward Osmosis plant, capable of producing approximately 6 GL/year of water. We are currently in the design phase of the project, and are looking at viable membranes to use with an ammonium bicarbonate draw solution which we will later recover using a distillation process.  Our plant would be theoretically built in Australia, performing seawater desalination at a hopefully more cost efficient rate than current RO installations.

As prospecting engineers, my team and I would greatly appreciate the chance to work with, and learn from members involved in the industry.

Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing back from you.
